Kampala Parents School gets ready for Online Classes Via Zoom

When coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic hit the world, many governments were forced to shut down schools. In March, President Yoweri Museveni faced with the same problem ordered schools to close in order to safeguard pupils, students and teachers from the pandemic. In total, the President sent home over 15 million scholars. But as the pandemic persisted, governments and schools are devising ways by which they can be able to teach their students. And with this, technology has come handy as schools turn to the internet to conduct classes and deliver lessons. Recently, Kampala Parents School announced online classes for pupils from pre-primary (Middle and Top classes of nursery section) to primary seven-candidate who will sit for the national Primary Leaving Examinations.

Smugglers expose communities to Covid-19

SMUGGLING syndicates have turned illegal crossing points dotted along the Limpopo River into permanent camping sites where huge consignments of goods worth millions of dollars are illegally brought in and out of the country daily, exposing communities living along the Zimbabwe-South Africa border to Covid-19. The smugglers use hired inflatable boats to ferry the smuggled goods across the river to either side of the border for varying fees ranging from R150 to R500 depending on the weight of the load. Several people, mostly regular cross border traders who make a living out of buying and selling goods sourced from South Africa, are the main culprits. They are defying lockdown regulations by illegally crossing the border, raising concerns of the spread of the coronavirus in areas lying along the border. The smugglers do not even take extra precautions to curb the spread of Covid-19 such as wearing face masks and sanitising. South Africa has the highest number of Covid-19 cases in Africa.
