President Yoweri Museveni has told Ugandans to borrow from Uganda Development Bank (UDB) and invest in import substitution projects. The President said the government recapitalized UDB to the tune of one trillion Ugandan shillings, with more funding expected to come from the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. He emphasized that Ugandans should borrow from the Bank and invest in import substitution economic activities. President Museveni was speaking at the commissioning of Lida Packaging Products Ltd., which produces medical and non-medical face masks located in Mbalala in Mukono District. Lida Packaging Products Ltd. is one of five manufacturers of face masks that have been certified by Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) and National Drug Authority (NDA). It produces 52,000 face masks daily.
